Fun Weekend Brain Games 🧠🧩

Happy Friday! 🌟 The weekend is just around the corner, and what better way to kickstart the fun than by giving your brain a workout?

As your go-to brain health cheerleader, I'm here to remind you that playing brain games isn’t just fun, it’s also one of the best ways to keep your mind sharp and thriving.

Why Brain Games? 🤔

  1. Mental Agility: Just like hitting the gym keeps your body fit, brain games keep your mind sharp. They enhance cognitive flexibility, making it easier for you to adapt to new situations.
  2. Memory Boost: Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you went there? Brain games help improve memory recall and retention, ensuring you'll be less likely to misplace your keys next time.
  3. Stress Relief: Unwind from the week's stress by immersing yourself in a challenging puzzle or game. It's a fantastic way to relax and clear your mind.
  4. Problem-Solving Skills: Whether it's a Sudoku puzzle or a crossword, brain games stimulate your problem-solving skills, helping you become more adept at tackling real-life challenges.
  5. Increased Creativity: Engaging your brain in different ways fosters creativity. You might find yourself thinking outside the box more often!

Fun Brain Games for the Weekend! 🧩

  1. Sudoku: A classic that never gets old. It's like a literal mental workout for your brain cells. I like this one that I often get on Amazon.
  2. Crossword Puzzles: Challenge your vocabulary while having a blast filling in those boxes. I like this "A Puzzle a Day" booklet by The New York Times.
  3. Chess: I became a fan after watching The Queen's Gambit on Netflix! It is a game of strategy that exercises your brain's planning and foresight. Definitely worth the try. I got this chessboard game as soon as I was done watching the series.
  4. Jigsaw Puzzles: Puzzles are great to give your visual-spatial skills a boost. You can go solo or have your friends or significant other join you in the fun! The Harry Potter fan in me is loving this 550-piece one right here. It took me a few weeks, but I looked forward to every night I spent completing it.
  5. Memory Card Games: Play memory-matching games like this one to enhance your memory prowess.

Brain teaser answer:

Hush, because reversing the others makes real words:

  • flow → wolf
  • mood → doom
  • stop → pots

But hush → hsuh (not a word).

Hi friend! This one stopped me in my tracks. A recent study from the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center found that microplastics are being detected in human brain tissue, meaning these tiny plastic particles can cross the blood-brain barrier (the protective filter that keeps toxins out of your brain). Let that sink in for a second. We’re talking about microscopic plastic fragments (from our water bottles, food containers, clothes, and even air) ending up in the most protected...

Yesterday (September 21st) was World Alzheimer’s Day. A day that many use to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around dementia. A day to highlight the importance of taking care of our brains EARLY. But if you've been with me for a while, you know that, here, that happens all the time! Did you know this??? 1 in 3 older adults dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. In the United States, over 7 million people are living with Alzheimer’s Nearly 12 million family members provide unpaid...

July 22nd is World Brain Health Day 🧠, but if you know me, then you know every day is Brain Health Day over here because here’s the truth: you can’t create a legendary life with a foggy mind, fractured focus, or fatigue running the show. Your brain is the command center of your destiny. This journey and my purpose, although fulfilling, came out of my pain and frustration trying to find solutions to my own struggles after YEARS of neglecting my sleep for the grind, which affected my brain's...
